Service Description

Purpose In accordance with the requirements of Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations, the purpose of the Frist Aid for Public Safety Personnel (FAPSP) course is to train lifeguards, fire fighters, and peace officers in the knowledge and skills necessary to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or illness until more advanced medical help arrive. Prerequisites None Learning Objectives At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to:  Perform CPR and use an AED.  Evaluate the ill and injured.  Provide treatment for shock.  Support airway and breathing by manually opening an airway.  Support airway and breathing by removing airway obstructions.  Support airway and breathing by using the recovery position.  Perform spinal motion restriction.  Splint extremities.  Use water or normal saline for emergency eye irrigation.  Assist with the administration of oral glucose.  Assis with the administration of physician-prescribed epinephrine devices and naloxone.  Assist in emergency childbirth.  Control severe, life-threatening bleeding.  Apply chest seals and dressings.  Decontaminate equipment.  Care for amputated body parts.  Provide basic wound care.
